Light design

Light design is the term used to describe the planned process covering the conceptual, technical and creative-design aspects.

Light design clarifies the questions:

  • Which type of light should be used where to create a specific, intended effect?
  • What colour of the light, and what is the lightness and darkness weighting?
  • Which scenic objectives are pursued?
  • Which lights are suitable?

The light designer analyses the technical conditions and functional objectives, and systematically utilises his/her creativity to build on this.
